Can I refer my son to St Edward’s School?
Unfortunately you can’t. Any referral must go through your Local Authority as pupil placements are funded by Local Authorities.
Please contact your Local Authority if you would like to pursue your interest in St Edward’s. They will be able to offer you guidance on whether they feel we are the best provision to meet your son’s needs. Alternatively, you could contact your local Parent Partnership Service who can offer you advice and support.
You are, however, very welcome to visit us on an informal basis.
Can my son access the same curriculum as he would in a mainstream school?
We offer the full National Curriculum to boys from Year 5 to the end of Year 9. A modified curriculum at Key Stage 4 enables pupils to follow GCSE courses in English, Mathematics, Science, Art and Design, Design Technology, ICT, RE, PE, and valuable pre-vocational courses in Horticulture, Brickwork and Painting and Decorating.
Does my son need to start at the beginning of the Academic Year in September?
No, we admit pupils at regular points throughout the school year.
Will my son have a key contact person at St Edward’s School?
Yes. Every pupil is assigned a Keyworker who is a qualified Residential Social Care Worker.
He can, of course, speak to any member of Staff if he has a concern.
My son has been out of school for 2 years, what if he can’t cope initially with attending Monday – Friday?
For pupils who may have been out of school for some time or may find the transition process difficult, we can offer a tailored attendance programme. This is a reduced timetable and will give your son the opportunity to settle in to our provision at a pace to suit his own needs.
