Core issues integral to adolescence are explored, with particular focus on any prevalent emotional and behavioural difficulties.
The approach used is integrative, drawing on various models of research and different theories, rather than one specific model. Theories that particularly inform this work include Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Attachment theory, neurobiology and developmental studies.
The use of the Arts (Art, Drama/Puppetry, Sculpture/Clay, Poetry, Sandplay, Music, Bodywork/Movement) is also offered to help the exploration of thoughts and feelings.
Engagement in Therapeutic Arts Counselling aims to acknowledge, recognise and name repressed feelings – providing the opportunity for catharsis. It contributes to a pupil’s individualised programme, integrating the service with existing systems.
